Over 50% of healthcare providers exhibit symptoms of burnout, and about 10% of healthcare workers will suffer from a substance use disorder at some point in their career. Many providers suffer in silence, fearing that seeking help for mental health or addiction will lead to disciplinary action or the loss of their license. Healing the Healers
Pu‘ulu Lapa‘au offers confidential support and advocacy to healthcare professionals with potential conditions including substance use disorders, mental or physical illness, work-life imbalance and behavioral concerns. They are not a disciplinary body, but an independent non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health, well-being and effectiveness of healthcare professionals.
IDAA is a worldwide fellowship of doctorate-level healthcare providers and those in training who strive to help one another achieve and maintain recovery from substance use disorders. In addition to resources for healthcare providers, IDAA also provides support for family recovery, including programs for children and teens.
